Brian Eno Urges Backing to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.

A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

An Opportunity for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby features a selection of acclaimed names from the industry. All participated in the benefit event, which managed to collect a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of talented individuals. The song showcases a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The team running the initiative have emphasized that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to Gaza.”

The reality in the region was described as its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of property reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”

The song is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
